  • Private out of pocket fees apply for all weekend consultations and services for all patients, regardless of age or concessional status.

PROCEDURES

  • Private out of pocket fees apply for all procedures including iron infusions, Mirena and Implanon insertions, skin biopsies and excisions.

  • Private out of pocket fees also apply for full body skin checks.

TELEHEALTH

  • The same fee structure applies for telehealth as for face-to-face consultations.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

  • Some doctors may elect to vary the standard practice fees in special circumstances at their discretion.

  • Patients in genuine financial hardship are encouraged to discuss their individual circumstances with their doctor.

PAYMENT OF FEES

  • Full payment is required on the day via credit/debit card (EFTPOS).

  • Using the practice’s Tyro machines, the Medicare Rebate may be refunded onto the patient’s card or into their bank account on the same day.

  • Alternatively, the rebate may be paid directly into the patient’s bank account within 3 days if these details are supplied to Medicare.

WHY IS THERE AN OUT OF POCKET ('GAP') FEE?

Norton Summit Medical Centre has always prided itself on providing a high level of care for all patients. Over the past 10 years in particular, there has been a significant increase in the cost of running a high quality general practice. During this time, the Federal Government has only provided very small increases to the Medicare rebate. This has meant that the Medicare rebate is now inadequate and no longer covers the full cost of a GP consultation. Click here for more details. Please speak to your local Federal MP to raise your concerns that Medicare Rebates have not kept up with inflation.
